candukid Sad thing is this: incident happened in February. NFL and Chiefs knew about it. Did nothing...until the video was made public.
Bull.
Chiefs and NFL both were on it early. Both asked the hotel for the tape and they refused. Cleveland's police were able to eventually get a copy of it from the hotel but then the police would not provide it to the NFL or Chiefs.
Chiefs interviewed Kareem Hunt about this incident and another one at a resort last summer where he punched some dude before the season started. Kareem was suspended by the team for the first game refuting your claim the Chiefs did nothing until the tape came out. The Chiefs realized after reviewing the tape Friday that the tape flat out proved Kareem was blatantly lying to team officials about what happened in that hotel. In fact, it also came out today that the Chiefs and K Hunt had come to an agreement before the season began that he needed treatment and he agreed to it. Chiefs found out when questioning Kareem about what they saw on the tape that he admitted he had been lying about his treatment attendance too.
This backstory helps explain the apology that K Hunt made Sunday morning (link to the interview posted above by Toulon). This has been the talk of the town on all of our local news outlets and they have all been pretty consistent even after getting their individual scoops from their own sources close to the team.
I hope someday we find out who released it to TMZ and how much they received for the leak. I also think the Cleveland PD and legal department have some explaining to do on why charges weren't filed so we can understand their reasoning. I'd like to know if it is true that the victim's friend also recorded the argument and assault but they claim Kareem, or one of his friends, removed the card from the phone. The victim's name is now public so Gloria Allred and Michael Avenatti will have figured out how to be in contact with her, I'm guessing.
It is also interesting to me how many Chiefs 'fans' came to Kareem's defense after it was announced he was booted from the team in the comments section following the respective news stories.
