Someone you just met starts telling you how great a player they are, citing low scores?
This has happened to me twice in a month. Once in a PIAS store and today in Italy. I'm sitting on a bench waiting for SWMBO.....we gotta catch the tour bus after lunch. I strike up a conversation with a guy next to me about the view we have of the Italian coast, and in the next 5 minutes, he tells me (without any prompting) that he used to be a PGA teaching pro and still plays to a 1 handicap. The guy looks to be about my age or a little older (67 - 70). He's telling scores he shot (all low), bets he's won, and on and on. I'm sort of inclined to think it's all bullshit. I complimented him on his ability, told him I was a 12 cap hacker and would love to play at his level. He started right where he left off, with more low scoring accounts. I saw SWMBO, and busted outa there with a kind "gotta go, buddy. Good meeting you".
Blowhard story teller or just proud low capper?
