Any of you guys try overspeed training, or any speed training in general? I'm retiring at the end of May and plan on stepping up the workouts and want to see if I can get any gains from speed training.
I did a session today and it was quite the little workout. I wasn't out of breath but I was sweating some. What I did was swing a gripped shaft only as hard as I could for 10-15 reps, first right handed then left handed, then both hands. Did 3 sets and then swung a 5 iron as fast as possible. I couldn't swing the shaft for shit left handed, it made a weak swoosh but really got it going right handed . The guy in the video I saw was just the opposite, he got more speed left handed.
I once was in a distance slump (who am I kidding, I'm always ina distance slump) but it was so bad I was like "I should be able to hit the ball farther than this one handed". Tried it left handed and couldn't hardly hit it. Tried it right handed and after one really bad swing I hit 5 balls and all were between 235-240. I actually thought about driving one handed but every 4th or 5th shot was an off the planet pull. I wonder if I should try a swing that's more right arm centric?
But I digress, this is about speed training. I was messing around with the SS radar the other day and got around 93 with a 43" driver. I'll use that for my basis and see how much, if any I improve.
