garyt1957 So I need to grip a club before a trip tomorrow and I'm out of solvent. Any household items that might work? I usually use lighter fluid. Something out of the box, maybe? Could I use soap suds or something to slide the grip on?
Rickochet FauxAmish Nail polish will work in a pinch. Uh, and just what would you be doing with nail polish? 😜
garyt1957 The only thing I have laying around is the alcohol and WD40. I'll give the alcohol a try first. thanks
ptjn1201 I'd go with the rubbing alcohol as well. Probably won't be as slippery as mineral spirits and paint thinner, so use plenty and work quickly. I used some gin that was never going to be drank from my parents' liquor cabinet years ago -- it worked.
garyt1957 I tried alcohol but it didn't work. I probably didn't have enough left. So. I tried the WD40. It has a couple days to dry before I need it
Par4QC garyt1957 Last time I used alcohol while regripping, I had them upside down, twisted, and had just a hell of a time with getting them on. Since then, I've been sober every day!
mulegolf In all the years I was a clubmaker I used Naptha (lighter fluid). I did use mineral spirits for one grip on a driver when I was out of naptha. It worked but not as well as naptha.
Tinker The wd40 will dry up in about 2 hours. I have built over 1000 sets of clubs in my day and believe me it will be fine.
Rickochet I used KY Jelly once when I was regripping and my hand slipped off and I gave myself a black eye.
