Went to our new PGA Superstore today. They don't know me so it worked out well. Place was empty. I asked if I could just hit one of the demos and the guy said he'd come over and set me up.
I keep wanting the Epic flash subzero to work because I like the look and the adjustability along with the low spin. It just doesn't for me. Ball goes all over the place, feels...meh. I hit it with the Smoke shaft, Evenflow green and Tensei Blue. Smoke, they never have the 60 gram which I like...hit the 70. Even flow at 55g too light. Ball speed low, spin was not low, nothing over 283. Anyway...ill try it outside but I'm starting to dismiss this one.
He grabbed my the Cobra F9 with the Atmos Blue 6s. Normally I'd hit the Black 6s but I just went with it. Better... I've hit this better anyway and still did.
The guy asked me if I hit the Taylormade M5 and I told him just a few times. I did like the fact that all my Taylormade shafts would fit it. I forget it has a lot of adjustability...which is nice. The other time I hit it I left confused because the distance was great but ball speed was low. Some of the reviews I read afterwards claimed the same thing I found...so I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing.
So I hit the M5 with the smoke 70 and loved the sound the best of the 3. Felt the most solid. Numbers were great, ball speed was 5 mph higher than anything else...and that was with the smoke 70... I like the 60. He put the Tensei CK Orange in it because I wanted to see how it reacted being counterbalanced like my HZRDUS yellow and once again, the orange was awful. The M5/smoke combo was giving me 295 and 300's every time. I'd like to try the Tensei white with it vs. the smoke.
So, the M5 is leading the pack for me right right among the new 2019 bunch.
