colej My wife locked her fob in the trunk! Somehow the whole car got locked. Lol
Our 2009 Infiniti M35 doesn't allow you to do this. It pops the trunk open on it's own since it knows the fob is in there. Of course, when you WANT to do it (I have my fob and we want to leave my wife's purse in the trunk but her fob is in there), it won't do it.
Don't know about keys in the car though, have never tried locking it with them in there.
I do like the fobs but agree that when the battery dies, you have to jimmy the thing open and normally screw the plastic since it's soft.
My motorcycle (2009 Kawasaki Concours) has a fob for starting it up. I REALLY like that. There is also a key in the ignition that you never have to remove if you don't want to (it turns to get the bike into the mode to hit the starter or you can remove it to get the gas cap open).
