I get it. It's "fun". It's like guess my age or weight at the county or state fair or taking a quiz on facebook. People love stuff like this. My mom was telling me about my sister being involved in some study involving ancestry just last night and I told it her it was all nonsense.
Ironic the person who is accused of being anti-science posted a scientific review of the scam nature of these services. I don't do it to be a wet blanket. I love science and it has its place in our lives. I do it because it's ridiculous to believe that this is in any way accurate. I hate seeing people being duped.
Now, people who do this can go in with their eyes open knowing this is just a fun thing to do not to be taken seriously. I used to just feel sad/upset when I'd see these commercials where people would say... I never knew I was... or...I never knew I had ancestors there.
Make no mistake. This is a very well orchestrated "scam" or "game", if you will. I'm sure if you kicked these scientists who debunked this a few bucks they might change their tune and then everyone can be blissfully duped, again and everyone can have fun with the results.
I'm starting to think Rex had it right. God, help me. 😂
Mike, I'm worried about you if you still think this is in any way legit. If there was any concern at all about the "findings" I think you can rest easy. Not saying you were concerned. Some people are excited about their results. Others not so much.
