You could put a heavier weight screw (18 grams) in. You probably lost 9 swing weight points with the 1 1/2".
My G400 SFT has a 10 gram weight screw and I'm replacing it with a 13 gram weight because I went with an after market UST Mamiya VTS Silver shaft Around 57 grams. The VTS in not counter balanced and I wanted to play it at 45 1/4". I'm hoping to get it to around D1 swing weight.
Don't assume yours has a 10 gram weight because PING uses the weight for swing weight. It very well could be 10 grams, but check before ordering if you want to go that route.
There will be a gram weight number on the rubber like bushing under the metal weight itself. You could also weigh it on a gram scale, but make sure you weigh the rubber part along with the metal part and screw.
Two grams roughly equals 1 swing weight point, so assuming you started with a 10 gram weight, the extra 8 grams should get you another 4 swing weight points. Which would allow you to use less tape.
Just an option.
