mikeintopeka Thanks! I doubt I was the crowd favorite. That was probably a long time member who's a retired TV broadcaster. He's in his early 80's, but still hits the ball hard. I think his partner was probably in his 80's as well. They survived holes 10-13, but tied with us and another team for worst score on #14. We had a chipoff and they came up short there and didn't advance.
It was a big rush on the first playoff hole having all those people watching. #10 is a longish par 3 with an elevated tee and water almost all the way around it. It was playing ~ 190 and a bit windy. I think only 2 of us hit the green and 3-4 guys dunked it. After that hole I didn't notice the crowd much at all, but I was pumped. We had pretty easy pars on 15 and 16 to move on, but really ground one out on 17. My partner said "we've locked up 2nd place money" and I said something like "f**k that we're winning this thing" lol.
The 18th was almost a let down. My partner hit the left rough, but it was a decent lie (and I'm always in the left rough on 18) and I hit the back of the green (adrenaline) and he lagged it to a couple of feet while our opponents hacked up the woods on the right and took 6 shots to get near the hole. I was so amped up I'm not sure I could have made the 2 footer lol.
