Weirfan Wow that’s a nice day, -8 over a personal best is big!
I caught 4 drives, gps verified over 350 on the day, just the regular driver, the best of which was uphill and got 362, I had it working to say the least. It was fun, I haven’t played that well since high school and even then, I don’t recall a day when it all clicked. I managed a natural eagle (even lead off the putting so I could be honest about it), had us on and putting for 2 other, one of which got made after I bounced off the back of the cup). I was throwing darts with the wedges, I couldn’t help but just laugh and enjoy it. It was one of those unexpected joys. If we had one more actual golfer on the team it could have been crazy, but we wound up playing pretty much a two man scramble with my friend Andy, not in his best shape with a jacked up back. We had a few holes where it didn’t come together and we had to struggle to par, but all that said, I came in looking to not go over par for the day, so who cares? We left at least 4 strokes out there, even had to take a par on a par 5 ( “lost” my second shot that looked like it was right at the pin, thought it was over the green, turns out it was in the front bunker about 10 ft from the pin, my brother looked in and said it wasn’t in there, had to play our third from ~65yrds away, had no angle and left a 25ft birdie putt which we didn’t make. Found the ball when I pull both of theirs out of the bunker, did a quick little, “wait, 3 in here, 2 out there.. whhaaat the f***”, didn’t want to cheat so we went forward with it.) the conditions were perfect for my game, dry enough I could nip the ball and compress the crap out of it, getting check up on 10 yard shots and also getting roll from the driver, the perfect storm I guess.
