A friend gave us a bird feeder 30+ years ago, now we have 7, plus a seasonal Hummingbird feeder.
We get: Cardinals, Blue Jays, Chickadees, Titmice, 2 varieties of Nuthatches, Finches, Juncos, 3 varieties of Woodpeckers, 2 varieties of Finches, Wrens, Robins, Flicker, Doves, Crows, Blackbirds, tons of Sparrows and Starlings, plus regular visits by 2 varieties of Hawks. (Two baby hawks this past summer.)
The best feeder is right out or kitchen window. A log feeder. A smaller log with holes drilled in it. We mix peanut butter, suet and oatmeal. (Recipe can be provided). The birds have gotten tame and will land on it when refilling. The woodpeckers bring their babies, feed them and a few hang around after growing up.
The Blue Jays and Crows I did not originally like, but they are Hawk sentinels.
Other sightings, mallards (200 + at one visit), wood ducks, pheasant, Orioles, Scarlet Tanager, Blue Bird, Yellow Bellied Woodpecker and one massive parrot.
Love this thread and watching our birds!
