Has anyone tried a Miura baby blade? I’m a traditional blade player and the curiosity is killing me. Not in my budget to blow a couple hundred on a single iron that ends up laying around. I have never even seen one in person, haven’t seen anyone with PXG for that matter, not in my neck of the woods. In the old days there would be knocks of both available.
Baby blades
Never tried them, but the fitter that built my set plays them. They are small. Like butter knife small and thin. I couldn't imagine hitting them. I had a set of KZG blades many years ago and they were much larger as I recall....and I still couldn't hit more than an 8i. I'm always drawn to those blades when I'm in his shop though.

Not me. I've heard they are only slightly larger than a golf ball! Guess which club is the BB.
I play VIP by Nicklaus blades now. 1967 vintage.Wondering if they are much smaller.
Hmm, I think I’d rather not golf than have to play those.
DC300 Had them rechromed, custom lite sensicore shaft, std length two degrees flat( my specs). Play 2 tru 9 with Wilson harmonized pw. I have a lot of clubs and I play better with these than any. Traditional lofts launch ball high, smaller head goes through turf easier and is easier to square, finesse shots much easier.
Beautiful clubs. I'd be game to try them for a round or two.
If they cost what Miura's generally cost, though, I'm out.
Had a guy give them to me when I built him a new set. Rechroming was about 30 bucks a head. I drilled them out to take unitized shafts. It’s a big myth about cavity backs being more forgiving, the manufacturers went to cast clubs because they are way cheaper to produce. They went to strong lofts to say their clubs hit farther. I’ll take the higher lofts, you can always shut a club down for less loft but it’s pretty hard to add loft that isn’t there. X amount of weight concentrated hits balls harder than the same amount spread out. Have you ever seen a perimeter weighted hammer?

Tinker I have to assume you believe in the perimeter weighting-forgiveness connection, given your hammer example. When I hear "cavity back," I think perimeter weighting. Is there any way of creating a cavity back without ending up with a perimeter weighted iron?
EDIT: It's possible that you meant to type "It's a big myth about cast club being more forgiving," not it's a big myth about cavity backs being more forgiving.
I think that the forgiveness of perimeter weighted irons is a lot less effective than people give it credit for. I believe that the cavity allows the iron head to be bigger which is what most think is more comfortable. The reality is that you have to base performance on reasonably well struck shots. My son in law has big Cobra irons that show wear on the toe end of every iron. From center in they are brand new. He shoots over 100. so is wanking balls of the toe all day with a shovel head iron helping. I try to work with him and get him to slow down and concentrate on hitting the middle of the club face with a smooth swing but I’m beating my head against the wall most times. Believe me I have hit just about any iron you can name. The blades( along with a lot of practice and an a new approach) have turned my iron game around.

Have your son in law hit a non-perimeter weighted club and see how much he likes those toe hits. He'll not only have buzzing hands, but a score that is even higher.
PS - Lengthen his irons an inch or so, go to a slightly lighter club (maybe), or have him step a bit closer to the ball. It sounds like he has a consistent miss, so there is a solution for him. (Mind you, if the toe strike is coming from an over the top move, the light iron will probably hurt, not help.)
It’s definitely an over the top outside to in move. He swings so hard his finish looks like Ted Williams. He’s about 6’3” and his clubs are already longer. I think if I gave him a small head iron it would force him to slow down and concentrate more. Funny part is he invited me out last week with two of his buddies and they all swing the same. I met him on the range and gave him a quick brush up and he hit a couple decent shots but get to the first tee and back to the same old same old.
sdandrea1 yikes, looks like a butter knife with grooves.
Savor the few times the sweet spot is hit!
But man do they feel sweet, true forged like a samurai sword!
Yep, they are workable!
No problems with distance control!
Flyers, what are they?
And you'll never have too worry about getting sloppy, like what happens after switching to GI/SGI
