scotts33 That's often true, but not the case with the Matrix shafts that are flooding the mark for dirt cheap. Those were sold off as part of a forced liquidation by their lenders, and bought up wholesalers and then resold to the public. Shafts that came out as recent as a year or two ago with an original price tag of $250-$300/ea, can now be bought for as little as $30. And they are all legit aftermarket shafts.
And the $15 Program 95/130 iron shafts are an incredible value. I just built a set for a customer yesterday with the 95g in 6.5 flex, and he let me hit a few balls in my simulator before he picked them up and they're as solid as anything I've ever hit. They were a little on the stout side for me (I usually play 5.5-6), but I could swing as hard as I wanted and still had excellent control. If I didn't know any better I would have sworn I was swinging a very stout lightweight steel shaft (which is hard to find!!). They were also surprisingly high launching and high spinning, despite their stiffness. I was launching my 7 iron at about 22° with 7,500+ backspin, which is a few degrees higher and a LOT more spin than my personal set (same heads, but mine have Project X LZ 5.5 shafts). I was also getting about 5-10 yards more carry out of these, probably because of the higher launch and spin, but total overall distance was about the same due to less rollout. Very impressed!!
I already ordered myself a set to build my next set with, and I'm just going to soft-step them to get down to my normal 5.5-6 flex range. Oh, and they look pretty sweet too! 🙂
