With all the talk by Steve (and others) about hickory golf, I thought this article about this bag manufacturer would be of interest......until I saw the prices! You can access his website near the end of the article. Enjoy!
They make really nice stuff, but canvas is expensive. I got a Jones bag for the hickories.
A great choice.....when I coached high school golf, nearly EVERY team was carrying Jones bags!
Very old school traditional, but on the modern side of hickory!
Just regripped and whipped my mashie niblick. It has a small crack in the shaft. Re-pinned her too.
Very Very Nice bag. Sun Mountain has some nice leather bags and of course there are the MacKenzie bags (a bit pricey for my taste).
Nice project you have going.
Now that's real clubmaking Steve!
My whipping skills still suck, but I just got my mid iron yesterday, so I have more practice. Gotta reset and re-pin the head and wrap on some new leather. Gonna try to go slow this time and whip that thread in even wraps nice and tight together.
I'm guessing that this new hickory hobby could become just as expensive as your normal ho-ing hobby with the latest and greatest.
I would imagine that finding replaceable hickory shafts isn't exactly a cheap endeavor in itself these days.

New replacement hickory shafts are $19.50 from several suppliers. New replica clubs are expensive.
sdandrea1 Are you spineing, FLOing, MOIing those Hickory shafts???

Actually finding a good hickory shaft is harder than you might think. Straight grain, free of defects and correct flex. I use my NF9 to measure flex in hickory blanks either 39" or 44". This form of clubmaking goes back to the art of building golf clubs along with the heads and is a far cry from the cut n' glue of today.
I didn't know Ping made hickory shafted clubs...
But, what about period golf attire? Are you prepared for that?

SWMBO just ordered an outfit for me. I'm all in.
sdandrea1 Are you growing the handlebar mustache too? Hope you don't have large calves--they are not pretty in plus 4's.

I've been told my legs should be arrested for "lack of support". I'm lean in the calves.
Ringoblack Plus 4's don't look right without long socks.
Do it right or don't do it.

Then you are okay.
SWMBO ordered me a pair of green knickers, multi -colored argyle knee sox, green Kangol hat. White golf shirt will complete the costume. Pics up later.

I agree; perhaps a pair of black and yellow diamond pattern? or maybe these.
or if better taste prevails, these
