Houses on the course

Should you hit a ball into a private yard on or near a golf course, do not stomp through their yard in search of your ball. Be respectful of another person's property. Take a penalty stroke and play another ball from where you hit the first one. During recreational play, it is common to play from the point at which the ball went out of bounds, but one should be aware that this is not consistent with the rules.

Should your ball lie in relatively plain view, you can retrieve your ball, but the worst thing you could do would be to try and play the ball in someone else's yard. Take a drop and move on.
