About Us
At GolfBuzz, our team may not all be passionate golfers, but we all share a common love of the game. Since the launch of GolfBuzz in March 2005, we have been devoted to providing the most innovative golf technology on the Internet. Take a look at the history of our management team's relationships and how GolfBuzz came to be:
Patrick Coulson, our CEO and President, first entertained the notion of creating GolfBuzz, Inc. while working as a software consultant for the Home Depot’s corporate office in Atlanta, GA. The motivation behind GolfBuzz arose with a few set of rules in mind: the business had to be health or travel related, it had to be something you could explain to your grandparents, it had to cater to a passionate clientele and had to be a business that would start conversations. In addition to working for Home Depot, Patrick has worked at Silicon Graphics, Cisco Systems, Apple Computer, and was the CTO of PureCarbon, his first start-up which he founded in June, 1999. Before being sold in 2002, PureCarbon focused on providing Human Resources solutions to Corporate 1000 clients and was the winner of the 2001 HR Executive Magazine’s Product of the Year for its JobPlanet software. Patrick graduated from California Polytechnic State Univeristy, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Computer Engineering. Patrick recently moved back to the West Coast from Atlanta and is currently living in the Bay Area.
Stuart Piltch the Chief Technology Officer at GolfBuzz, Inc., may be the least experienced golfer of the GolfBuzz team, but the rest of us are working hard to change that. Today Stuart is as busy working on GolfBuzz as he is acting as President and co-founder of Gradient Blue, a consulting firm offering services in enterprise software architecture, analysis, design, development and testing. Before working at GolfBuzz, Stuart was the Director of Software Development for PureCarbon, Inc and Workstream, Inc, and was one of the original architects of JobPlanet, the award-winning web-based corporate recruitment tool. Previously, he was the Director of Operations for the New York University Center for Advanced Technology and a Senior Systems Engineer at Apple Computer. Stuart holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from New York University and a Bachelor Degree in Engineering from Cornell University. After many years in and around New York City, Stuart and his wife moved to Portland, Maine where they live with their two young boys.
Don McAllister, the graphic artist talent behind GolfBuzz, Inc., has been designing websites since 1995. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a BFA in Graphic Design, his design career began at CNN.com and has continued to lead him from the East Coast to West Coast and back again. After working with AT&T in 1996 designing intranet sites, Don moved to Charlotte, NC where he helped start an associate training department for Bank of America. In 1999, he made his first cross-country trek and moved to Cupertino, CA where he worked for Apple designing HR Intranet sites. It was at Apple that Patrick and Don met for the first time. Don left Apple to join the team at PureCarbon as designer for the startup. In 2002, Don returned to Atlanta and began working for HomeDepot designing their Careers website. Today he works at GolfBuzz as our Vice President of Interactive Design & Marketing and continues to call Atlanta home.
Alan Parker, our Vice President of Business Development, has played golf avidly since he was 10 years old. He learned the game by joining his father for long sessions on the range each weekend and falling asleep every night with the hand drawn images from his "Arnold Palmer, Play Golf" instructional book. Alan has spent the last 12 years in both the technology and advertising arenas in a variety of Sales, Marketing and Business Development roles for both PeopleSoft and New Times Media. He is a Bay Area native and has a degree in Business from California State University, Chico. He has called San Francisco's Marina District home for the last 10 years and, when not obsessing about golf, he enjoys his Starbucks, a quick run to the Golden Gate Bridge, and logging as much time online as possible to help spread the Buzz.
