I have a group that goes there every year also. Great golf destination. Favorite courses are the “Witch” and the “Wizard”. Worst course in my opinion is Wicked Stick. That place SUCKS!!!!!!

I live in Myrtle Beach and like narrower fairways, my favorite so far is Rivers Edge. It’s a little ride up north but I think it’s worth it. It has a lot of holes like Pebble Beach but with carries over wetlands instead of ocean. Glen Dornoch is a fun layout with a lot of interesting holes. If you like the challenge of a lot of good water holes try Arrowhead, with about 80yds difference between the front and back tees. The Witch is great track with two different 9’s the front is long and spread out in the wetlands, the back is a lot shorter and compact and is a shot makers 9. If you like wider more forgiving fairways with interesting shots to the green, try Caldonia, True Blue, Wild Wing-Avocet or Grande Dunes. If you want a local opinion send me a message.

I have been going to Myrtle Beach for 20 years and still enjoy the atmosphere there. I must say the development there has gone overboard and now it is like the Jersey Shore as to traffic and people. There are some memorable courses there and have played most of them at least one time. However there has been a noticeable decline in maintenance over the years and prices are not what they used to be. It appears the courses are trying to take advantage of the golfers heading there now. My group has booked trips to Williamsburg and Santee which were both enjoyable with some terrific courses. This doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy Myrtle Beach but looking for more value.
WOW! As a newbie to GolfBuzz, I am amazed that there is no forum on the golf in Myrtle Beach, SC. While I understand that the luster of Myrtle Beach golf has dimmed seriously over the last couple of years, they still have about 100 golf courses there, and continue to tout themselves as “Golftown, USA.” So why is there no interest in that area?
My group of 28 go to Myrtle every October, and despite all of the development on most of the courses, we still have a good time, and play some really good “surcharge” courses.
If anyone is interested in Myrtle Beach, we rely on the Myrtle Beach Golf Association website – www.mbga.com – for the latest info, with all the usual BS.
How about golf in Williamsburg, VA?
